Planned Pethood is a newly formed non profit organization which seeks to address the overpopulation of companion animals by providing Financial Aid to approved applicants for Spay and Neuter operations.
Planned Pethood’s humane solution to the overpopulation of companion animals is based on the philosophy of Prevention. By providing Spay and Neuter Assistance to eligible applicants, we seek to drastically reduce the large numbers of unplanned and unwanted companion animals born annually in Nova Scotia. Most domestic pet breeding is accidental – by helping to finance these procedures we will help to ensure that fewer animals are dropped off or returned to shelters, euthanized, mistreated or abandoned. |
|
In addition to providing Spay and Neuter assistance, we aspire to develop a Humane Education program (to be made available in the form of e-module through our website) in order to address such issues as responsible pet ownership, the importance of Spaying and Neutering, understanding the needs of animals and the role of animal shelters in the community, among others. We believe that knowledge is power, and by making the public aware of the pet overpopulation crisis and issues relevant to the welfare of companion animals, we can instigate positive change.
